Kate has to move back home, but it's only temporary. She hopes.

Type: short

Genre: Comedy,Family,Alternative

Synopsis

Kate, a still young but unsuccessful mid-20s businesswoman, has to move back home. She tells herself at the door this is only temporary. She is then greeted by her mother (50s) and brother (20s), one thrilled and the other not fussed about her return.

Kate goes to unpack her bags, but realises her room has been converted to a storage room for Mum's eBay dealings. Mum says she will sort out a bed for her by the time she gets home tonight.

Kate returns home, goes up to her room to find a makeshift bed, which is actually a stacked pile of bubblewrap complete with a pillow and duvet. Kate makes the best of the situation, and tries to get comfortable, to the sound of popping bubbles.

    • I thought this was kind of funny, but sad at the same time. I remember how sad I felt when I had to move home, but at least I had a sofa bed to sleep on at first. Luckily I was able to move out pretty quickly after I got home and stay away for sixteen more years. I related to your story totally. Good job!
