What a great little piece and so appropriate now we've passed the seven billion mark! On one level, funny; on another, tragic; and on a third, frightening. It left me feeling it could happen all too easily, man playing God (again). I liked the flow and build up, and unless the guy was a quiz freak (and then some) the inevitability of his demise. Did he vaporise or didn't he? Who knows? Spotted a typo (repeat of 'my') early on.
Chis, many thanks again. It was a National Geographic piece that switched me onto it earlier in the year. It made me remember how, well goodness, it was only yesterday (or what seemed like it - 1999) that we passed the six billion mark. (I was working as Sherlock Holmes on Baker Street at the time and I was chatting about it with all the tourists!).
My biggest thanks though go for noticing the typo. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do...they just creep in there.
