No recollection of the night before? Ever wonder what you get up to when that happens? Bizarre past-life regressions lead a reporter to a pub and a ghost whose revenge threatens to tear the city apart. Vancouver’s mayor is found brutally slain in Stanley Park and the only clue to his death is an enigmatic shaman talking riddles on the trail of an awakened witch who spells nothing but trouble for all who cross her path. Carol Ainsworth, newly promoted detective, struggles to find who killed the mayor of Vancouver. She has only the riddles of Haida Shaman Charlie as any clue to 'who dunnit'. While she is attempting to track down Charlie she encounters journalist Ben Carlton and becomes involved in several other murders involving the Hell's Angels and a ghost seeking vengeance on them. The ghost, former Angel Larry Siegman, inadvertently releases a native witch from a tree in Stanley Park. Charlie is on the trail of this witch, who bleeds sexual energy from unsuspecting victims so that she can return to this realm. Larry leads her to Kelsey's Pub, which houses a strange vortex that allows spirits to enter the bodies of heavily inebriated patrons. Ben Carlton visits that pub on a date, ends up unlucky and passed out, awakening in a part of town he never frequents with no clue as to how he came to be there. To solve these murders Carol must look beyond her skepticism and believe what appears to be unbelievable. An urban fantasy with a Canadian backdrop, the fast-flowing storyline mixes romance, sex, bikers, ghosts and shamanism with the gritty world of detective work. Shaman's Lure (94,000 words) can stand alone but is intended to be the second part of a trilogy.
