The Soap Box Semaphore

The relationship between sixteen-year-old Billy Lamb and his girlfriend, Mandy Mowbray is getting serious. A constant impediment to the young lovers’ happiness, however, comes in the form of Mandy’s over-protective father, who was known to have physically ejected one of Mandy’s former beaus from the house. This frustrates Billy a lot.

Billy voices his frustrations to his friend Sam, who had once been in a similar ly constrained relationship. Sam introduces Billy to the soap box semaphore, a system of signaling that works by placing household cleaning products on the kitchen windowsill to indicate whether or not it is safe to approach the house .

Billy uses this system to great effect, until one day a box appears on the windowsill that is not on the list..
