Tasha is an arrogant and sarcastic young girl. She drinks and swears like a 50 year old man. Her world is turned upside down when she's told she has cancer.
Natasha 'Tasha' Brown is a 16 year old nightmare. She thinks she can say and do anything; and get away with everything. She smokes, drinks and swears to her hearts content. Then she receives the most horrifying news; she has cancer. She is angry and frustrated; she doesn't want people to feel sorry for her. She goes through three diverse moods throughout the short story; firstly when she is diagnosed she is furious, secondly when she is undergoing the treatment she is sad and tired, and finally when she is waiting to see if she is in remission she is hopeful. I didn't want Tasha to be your typical and cliched cancer victim; she doesn't want to be seen as brave or inspirational. She wants people to fear her.
