I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica for 12 years.I consider myself an African Caribbean. Then I lived in New York City for 3 years, until I somehow ended up back in Jamaica and lived there for 5 years. I am currently a college student in the US majoring in sociology and a minor in English. I love writing very much. I have found it rather difficult to re-ignite that flame and passion that I once had for writing. Hopefully as I post my work in Circalit, I can receive constructive criticism, or reviews of my work. I also welcome negative reviews of my work because what (author aspiring or established) doesn't get negative reviews of their work anyway. Things like, “this poem sucks!” or “I don’t understand anything you are talking about in this writing,” I welcome with open arms. This is because my aim is to have more than half of the people who read my work like my work after all is said and done. That is what I believe to be the definition of a popular writer. The most "critically acclaimed...." works will still have recieved negative criticism lurking somewhere.
I have traveled around, and have numerous experiences as it relates to the environment in which I have lived in. I admire diversity and culture, and hopefully someday, my admiration and interest in the various ways in which people live their lives can influence me more profoundly to reach out to people. I write from the heart and this is what truely matters. I feel that writing gives me a chance to cut across borders and transcend across the continents, across ethnicity and culture.
