  • A foetus or a tumour, I like that. Remember, your best friend will always be your notebook. If you have an idea WRITE IT DOWN you will not remember it. Oddly the moment you finish a novel, more so than a screenplay, and I mean after the rewrites, when you come to that point when you say to yourself ‘it’s is finished’ that is the moment you will plunge into deep depression. Not for long, a few days. When you have finished with the characters you have created and lived with for many, many months, it is like saying goodbye to an old friend, and there will be a sort of emptiness. And then you start another one. So keep at it, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or to be cheered up when it’s not going so well.
