Stepping Out - Sci-Fi Short Story Competition Entry

A good story simply told. I like the log/diary style and found it very easy to read. It  reminded me of the way 16th century explorers are depicted meticulously recording the events of each day,or maybe Defoe's 'Robinson Crusoe' with a bit of Captain Kirk thrown in. Although I know there is a far more serious message in there. I know the style of writing seems a bit basic and I don't know if it works or not. It would probably make a good plot for a movie. It's very realistic and begs the question, does the devil know he's bad? I like the story especially the ending and it's typical of all powerful 'nations', you know, we'll negotiate with you, so long as you do things our way. Very Good!
