St. Gallen (Peirene Press Competition Entry 2011)

This is an entry to the 900 word NaNoWriMo Competition being held by Peirene Press in November 2011. Inspired by a dream and pulling at my senses for ages before putting pen to paper, the story centres around an ancient book known as the Tome of Souls. This version leaves the reader in suspense, wanting to know more about the mysterious book that drove Brother Jacques mad. It sits complete in itself as a story, but I have been thinking of it for so long now that it could just as easily be the first few scenes in a film, or the first chapter in a novel. I hope you enjoy this, my first submission to Circalit.
