I liked it, kept being reminded of the Royal family as I read it though.I get what you're trying to do but wonder if it is original enough to be different? Hopefully the setting would be distinguished enough to give it that originality, but I just keep picturing a 70's lounge from the dialogue. I agree that you do have something here but it is not making me laugh enough yet. I didn't get enough of a distinction between the two female characters - perhaps this comes more with seeing them. The men were even more vague. There were some great references to current events and celebs. Perhaps more could be made of this to inject humour? The whole recycling theme is one dear to my heart, we're fighting a landfill battle with the council in our area. The MP's expenses is another subject that everyone has an opinion on and feels aggrieved about. I think more could be made of what your characters would think and and say about these issues to make it funnier.Stressing the difference between those ordinary folk [ your characters] and those with wealth and position. What would the women think about Sam Cam and recycling? And Kylie, whilst she may have a lovely arse, does she know which week it is- tins, plastics or paper?Which could lead on to what she would do with an excess of plastic - poss recycle as a new outfit - ending with she prob wouldn't give a damn anyway as she has so many homes, someone would do it for her. Rather than trying to cover too many things I think you could make more of what you have for the comedy element. Have you seen Modern Family on the TV? It is the funniest sitcom I've seen for years and makes me laugh out loud. It takes the simplest of senarios and hangs them out to dry but exposing the viewers insecurities. We can empathise with the situation and laugh at how the charaters react and squirm at everyday situations that we may have been in ourselves. I hope this helps. Keep going, you have the talent to make it work, just need to tweak the context.I want to be proudly saying 'I know them' when it comes up on TV.
