Enjoyable read. Didn't see the twist, which was nicely executed. I think sometimes you can overdo the metaphors - 'branches' would have been just as effective as 'fingers' in my opinion - but generally it flows well. One technical point - I'm not sure if a bitch can see into a dog's eyes when they are in the, ahem, doggy position.
