Although an 11th generation Londoner, I had a nomadic childhood, living in Derbyshire, North and South London, the Oxfordshire Chilterns, Burma, Essex and Surrey before settling in Yorkshire aged 10. My first fiction was published as short stories in Honey magazine when I was 21. Since then, I have worked as a journalist for a wide range of magazines and newspapers – including Marie Claire, She, Options, New Woman, The Guardian, The Scotsman, Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard, Observer Magazine and the International Herald Tribune, among many others.

    • Re. "Never Can Say Goodbye" Hi, Tried to leave a review but somehow the site won't allow this at present. At any rate, found your story so far very intriguing. Loved the contrast between the busy inner city and the woody retreat. For me, there was far too introspection as 1. The reader hasn't yet really come to care to care about the characters at such a early stage; 2. These aspects could be delivered up in a more natural manner while generating suspense as the story unfolds. I particularly love slow burning murderous plots, but not that simply achieved thru introspection alone. I thought the passivity of the main female was realistic (so many are at her age - especially in the proximity of a charismatic older man), plus her passivity provides interesting possibilities for her later character development (e.g. sinisterly foreshadowing the possibility she may even come to support him in his activities somehow - like some women have actually done so in the past. Cheers!

    • Hi, hope all’s well. Just to let you know my novel, ‘The Broken Boots Guide to Astlavonia’ has just been published. It’s a black comedy about a debt-ridden divorcee who is sent to Astlavonia, a former soviet state, to write its first ever guidebook but discovers all disputes are settled with a knife. If you’d like to read the first chapter and find out more, please visit www.nathanbraund.com. Please help an unknown writer by telling your friends. Thanks very much. Nathan astlavonia@yahoo.com
