These writer’s tools are extremely important as they are the basis for writing script. The job of the writer is to begin to accomplish the hard conceptual work at this preliminary level and the more work done on these make writing the script more efficient. I work with writers beyond the initial notes and supply continued input on the evolving work material.
I will provide a feedback report on the first 15 pages of your script.
The first fifteen pages are the most important of the script. These pages, the foundation of the script, establish the tone, pace, film language and characters that follow and must be right. Industry professionals judge writers based on the first five to ten pages and ‘get’ the quality of the writer in these pages. It is vital to have these pages perfect as many readers won’t read further if these pages don’t work..
I will provide you with detailed notes on your entire screenplay. My notes address structure, format, story and character and anything I see that can be improved. My notes are informed by the twenty years I’ve been teaching and the over fifty original screenplays I’ve written. My goal is to raise the level of the writing and the marketability and quality of the script.
I endeavor to keep the writer’s goals in mind and create notes that come from within the idea. The context of my notes take into consideration what the screenwriter is attempting to do and what ultimately will be done with the script when it’s finished.
