Author's Bio - Yair Packer
Yair Packer was born in 1934 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Yair worked in the local family business of Steel and Ceramic Tiles until 1968.
At that time he decided to leave the family business and established his own company as Israeli representative for foreign TV companies such as ITC England ( The Saint, The Muppet Show etc.)
Being in the market of TV series exposed Yair – in 1971 - to the fast growing potential of the licensing & merchandising world of animated TV characters. In 1972 he was nominated by The Walt Disney Company (Consumer Products Division) as its exclusive Marketing Manager in Israel. Yair Packer held this position for 25 years until 1997 when The Walt Disney Company decided - as a worldwide policy - to establish its own offices in Israel.
Between the years 1972 to 1997 Yair Packer also represented - with great success - the licensing rights of other well known characters such as The Smurfs, Transformers, G.I.Joe, The Simpsons, The Flintstones, Dennis the Menace etc.
Yair is also a writer. He wrote children's stories as well as screenplays for adult audience. Ten of his children's stories were published by leading publishing houses in Israel in Hebrew.
His full length screenplays “ Shooting Stars “, “ Borrowed Lives “ ,
“ Unfinished Business “, " Well Dan " and " ReaMagination " as well as close to thirty short scripts ( 15 shot – one shot three times - and two more to be shot in 2010 ) are written in English and intended for the Worldwide market. A short film – based upon one of the short script –participated in the 2009 Venice Film Festival. Two of the short scripts were adapted to Hebrew and are on stage in Israel. Two other short scripts will be on stage – early 2010 – of an English Speaking Theatre in Munich Germany.
